Why silk is the best fabric for face masks.

Because of its intensely hydrophobic character, silk is the most effective at preventing the penetration of droplets and the least absorbent of water. Other benefits of silk include;

Mulberry Silk

The process of making Mulberry silk can take weeks. The silk is harvested from the cocoons spun from the silkworm fed Mulberry leaves. Mulberry leaves grown in the silk production are a sustainably grown crop. It is still traditionally grown and has been perfected over the years.

All our face masks are made from Mulberry silk, a 100% natural fabric that is the highest quality of silk available. It is an extremely tightly woven material and is said to be among the most durable of products, allowing for easy cleaning and reuse.

Our face masks are made with a pocket for the disposable filter. The filter offers added protection. Our mask comes with 5 disposable filters. Each filter is made up of five layers, two layers of non-woven fabric, 2 layers of melt blown & one layer of activated carbon. The nose wire and adjustable ear loops are to ensure a comfortable fit.

Silk is kind to the skin and is hypoallergenic, making it one of the best fabrics for those with allergies. It also doesn’t absorb as much moisture as other fabrics and is less susceptible to odours, making it comfortable to wear your silk face mask throughout the day. This is same reasons why many people also use Mulberry silk for bedding and nightwear. What more could you ask for?

Washable Silk Face Masks

Remove the PM2.5 filter before washing, hand wash or gentle machine wash in cold or lukewarm water using a gentle detergent. Hang up to dry (do not tumble dry). Can be ironed on silk setting. The silk will feel softer with washing.
