Momme (pronounced moe-mie) is a unit of measure relating to the density and weight of silk.
The higher the momme (mm) weight the denser the fabric which means a greater amount of silk was used in the weaving process and the more durable the fabric is.

Q. What is the normal momme count for silk pillowcases?

When shopping for silk pillowcases keep an eye out for the (mm) count. The standard momme (mm) count on the market today is 19-22mm and the highest momme is 30mm. Beware of advertised silk pillowcases that do not have a momme (mm) count, these may be as low as 16 momme (very thin).

Q. What are silk grades?

Silk quality is graded A, B, or C, with Grade A being the best. Grade A silk is the highest quality long-strand silk. It is very pure and each strand can be unravelled to great lengths without breaking. Silk grades are also further differentiated by number; Grade A silk comes in A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A, with 6A being the highest and finest quality silk available in the marketplace.

This means that a silk pillowcase made from Grade 6A silk will cost more because of the better-quality silk used than a pillowcase made from Grade 5A or below silk.

Q. Why is there a colour difference?
Why strive to accurately represent the colour of each product, however silk has a lustrous finish and can look slightly different in different lights. Colour of your monitor screen can also vary. The product that you receive may look slightly different under different lighting.

Q. How long does it take to receive my goods?

Silk was first discovered in China more than 4000 years ago! Today, China builds on that legacy by producing nearly two-thirds of the 125,000 metric tons of silk produced around the globe. Chinese silk is of the highest quality available. Many silk products listed from other countries are made of either raw silk from China loomed in other locations, or already loomed Chinese fabric that is then sewn into the finished product in that country.
